FEMA Runs Out of Water

Hey Yankees: Florida people store water, food, batteries and keep their cars ready to bug out to Georgia when it gets too rough. It's called preparation. If you want to blame somebody, blame the local politicos you elected who clearly can't manage. Did you really think that the govt. that gave you the post office, Amtrack, the war in Afghanistan had your back?

AMEN! This is exactly what I thought when I read this! Aren't there PSAs that tell us to be prepared for events such as these? Are people really that lame that they can't listen to reports, know it could hit them, and then prepare at least a few days in advance (I totally understand that one might not have a basement stocked with stuff...but honestly...they knew she was coming just as well as NOLA knew Katrina was coming some years ago). Whatever happened to people understanding the government is pretty inefficient, and it is best to rely on yourselves???

Your emergency stuff does not always survive the disaster. Every hospital with a backup generator tests it every month under load conditions- including those whose generators failed. c'est la vie. In many cases these people may have had their supplies but things happened so quickly they couldn't get to them or take them with them.

Following up on my post from earlier today, FEMA has run out of water. From Breitbart:

FEMA's vaunted "lean forward" strategy that called for advanced staging of supplies for emergency distribution failed to live up to its billing in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

In fact, the agency appears to have been completely unprepared to distribute bottled water to Hurricane Sandy victims when the storm hit this Monday. In contrast to its stated policy, FEMA failed to have any meaningful supplies of bottled water -- or any other supplies, for that...
