Active and retired federal employees: Do you want to counteract and defend yourselves against the lies seen on this page? Seek out and join your local chapter of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), or go to to learn about our e-chapters. Vicious articles and comments like the ones you see here serve only to denigrate the loyal and hardworking public servants you know you have been.
I hope Republicans don't start pandering to Blacks or Latinos for that matter, to get their vote. I'd feel better about my party if we just stand firm on our principles of fairness and proper ways to immigrate. We might take some losses for a while, but in time the liberals should become victims of their own failure.

That's a stretch to blame our president for the current mideast flareup. Obama will not turn his back on Israel. He is too beholden to his Jewish friends in Hollywood and TVland.

How a Bitter Election Will End

Mr. Chapman, you are right in that we have a heritage of those in power gracefully giving it up if they lose the election, but in a more ideal situation, the losers would say, "We gave it our best shot. We lost. Now we'll cooperate with the winners for the good of the country." That last sentiment has been noticeably absent since the election of 2000.

Flooded by Keynesianism

The only thing that boosts the wealth and economic well being of a country is production of goods that end up in the hands of its citizens. Money that must be spent repairing and replacing, instead of new production, does not enrich the society. But it's necessary. Wealth is simply transfered from the tax payers to the construction companies. Hurricane Sandy was not a friend to Obama or Romney.

Investors Become Nearsighted

The stock market is nearsighted right now because of that fiscal cliff facing us in January. No one can see the drop: 1 foot or 1 mile?

Nicolas Ivie wasn't killed by drug smugglers. He was killed by friendly fire. He was in one of two groups responding to the alarm in a dark and dangerous area around 1:30 in the morning. Ivie shot at a member of the other group in the dark. He was in turn shot in response. Neither group knew who they were shooting at. Ivie was an accidental victim of our war on drug smuggling.

Rape, God, Life and Liberals

Mulbery and Jack, let's try discussing this without calling people names. That's a sign of weakness. Nobody's proposing to force the rape victim or any other woman to carry her child. Yes, child. All we can do is encourage her to carry her child to birth and adoption, and help her in any way we can. In our country, where many people oppose the death penalty for hardened criminals, death seems to be a harsh penalty for a person guilty of being a child of rape.
Mr. Ransom, your appeal to Liberals suggests you respect them as intelligent, thinking beings. That may be a stretch. Liberals are driven by one consideration: having a minority in the White House.
Sorry Dan, you are often right, but not this time. The Federal Salary Council has it right, government workers are underpaid for comparable work and qualifications, compared to the private sector. And please don't call the Council people "stooges". That's namecalling. People resort to namecalling when they don't have a valid argument.
