Enforcing Rules, morality, and proper social behavior does not require a god who declares the rules and demands obedience. Proper moral and social behavior can easily be taught to and caught by children through their parents and teachers own behavior and reaction to bullying, etc. All it requires is the modeling of acceptable and proper behavior by the parents or teachers, and swift, just punishment (not physical abuse) for unacceptable behavior at the time the behavior occurs. Absolute truth Dr. Sowell. My step-father with a 4th grade education, having worked in the Automobile industry for 43 years in Michigan was forced to join the UAW in order to work. He never attended a Union Meeting because and I quote here if he spoke his wished "I'd get the cr*p beaten out of me." Further without having the benefit of a good education, not even knowing what economics were, often voice his frustration that the union was to blind to see the they always took "wage increased and sacrificed Jobs" He hated it but had no choice in the Union's actions at all.
