Both parties are part of the problem. The policies we have voted for over the last 20 years need to be paid for. Part me is willing to take a 5% tax hike if it means that each dept will be cut by 10%. That said, both parties are holding everyone hostage over the tax rates of the top 2%.

I agree, I would be willing to pay more as well...if it were spent on the debt....it will not they will just increase entitlement spending...look at the history.

They've composed a chart tracking marginal rates since 1954. Take a look at the end, and the size of the jump projected in tax rates:

Keep in mind that as rates have come down, average tax revenue has stayed roughly the same. Reforms to the U.S. tax code have given us one of the most - if not the single most - progressive...
