Whenever one of my female friends considers buying a long gun, I always tell her to steer clear of shotguns. They're heavy, cumbersome, and if you're a petite woman the recoil can definitely knock you off your feet. Women should stick with something sleek, classy and lightweight, like the Ruger mini-14. A beautiful firearm that has almost no recoil. I'm going to make sure I pass this video around to all my friends.

The SR9 or SR9c works quite well too; 17 rounds of 9 mm would make any bad guy think twice and they are easier to carry too.

When you say shotgun, everyone thinks 12gauge. A 20gauge or even a .410 can be very effective without the weight and recoil of a 12gauge. A 20 semi-auto would be a great self defense gun. Save the ARs and 7.62s for when the zero unleashes his domestic army.

Not enough ammunition in those guns; you want something with a LARGE capacity Magazinein case there are multiple bad guys.

I saw a picture of a Mini-14 in the hands of a deputy tracking Christopher Dorner, so it must be a weapon of choice for at least one California Sheriff's Department also.

I like a standard Ruger mini-14. It's an understated, stealth "assault rifle." If you notice, it's not on the banned list and is even allowed in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey as long as you don't trick it up with pistol grips and folding stocks.

The mini-14 is not on the banned list? Are you sure? After all, it can take a 10, 20 or 30 round clip.

Not according to Pelosi's list of 100 or so models that was published in the Drudge Report. Another favorite of mine, the M1A was also not on the list.
