Outside of the legal issue here, I'm confused as to the argument that the government should regulate games in order to prevent children from playing them. This assumes that there is at least a reasonably sized portion of children who are playing these games without their parents consent/knowledge. According to a 2008 Federal Trade Commission secret shopper survey (granted, this information is outdated by two years) only 20% of children between 13-16 were able to purchase M rated games, compared to 35% for R-Rated Tickets, 47% for R-Rated DVD's, and higher rates for other media. The conclusion is that the retail video game outlets are currently doing a better job of not selling to minors than any other type of entertainment media. I...
