There is no god! People made him up.
The main problem with education is that we are still following the ancient model of an expert lecturing the masses. If a doctor had to see as many patients a day as a high school teacher does students, he would assemble them in a room and lecture on health.
Quite realistically, opposite sides always want to think that the other is making up lies. That is basically because opposite sides do not want to give serious consideration to the other's reasoning. As for voters who don't use their brains you must read the book by Bryan Caplan, The Myth of the Rational Voter. His thesis is something like the idea that the large uninformed mass tends to vote randomly, so that a small informed group, voting as a block will create the majority.

What makes you think that the SAT is a measure of anything that is important in teaching? It is like testing all welders to see if they can cook a hamburger. Complete nonsense.

Quite to the contrary, I believe the problem is with school administrators: principal, vice principals, etc. who have no clear vision of what they are doing. One honest vice principal once said to me "How am I supposed to evaluate you, who have been in the classroom for nine years. I was in a classroom for three years, jumped at the chance to earn a master's degree in administration and here I am in position to judge teachers."

I earned a BS in Biology/Chem and earned a Washington State Teacher's certificate and then taught a third of a century. Absolutely nothing in classes for the teacher's certificate were of help. My first few years of teaching I leaned upon the advice of older teachers. By the third year I figured out how to teach by myself.
I was a teacher for a third of a century. If we ran medicine the way we run schools, a doctor would meet with 38 patients and lecture them on healthful living. Class sizes should be no bigger than a dozen students.

I wonder if anyone has considered the hypothesis that as population size increases, homosexuality increases. Sort of a way of limiting population growth. Heterosexual activity leads to having children; homosexual activity does not. Homosexual activity has been observed in many mammalian species - perhaps it is natural.
So why won't the Republicans offer a presidential candidate that we independents would vote for?
