and soon the Republican party will have the same fringe status as the Libertarians, Working Families, Green and other parties out on the edge. Meghan McCain, like it or not, is the wave of the future. There's probably no more than a handful of young people today who will be eligible to vote in the next pres. election who would vote against abortion, gay marriage, environmental concerns and everything else that
Ashley claims is a "trendy" cause. So like dinosaurs, the Repubs either need to change, adapt or die. Your choice.

Now, you can start a new party just called the Conservative/Reactionary Party, where moderate forward-thinking Republicans would not be welcome. Call it The Party of Intolerance and No Change. But,...

The Sen. Al Franken Blue Ball

You're the one who should 'calm down.' YOU'RE criticizing Franken? Your life is solely about trying your hardest to discredit anyone in the Democratic party -- anyone who disagrees with you. Your career is built on writing books designed to discredit others but all you do is end up looking like a buffoon. You don't exactly have the credibility to be so outraged, Tyrrell - plenty of people think you're a mega-liar and a writer of fiction.

As for Franken -- well I had an interesting interaction with him back in my college days when he was big on SNL and came to perform as a comedian. I was in charge of student activities and there were some tech problems with the microphones. Not the nicest person that ever lived -- I can tell...
Lots of truth in that -- the thing is that sometimes people aren't so neatly boxed in as we would like to think. Yes, there are Leftists who are racist, sexist, hate Jews, hate blacks, etc... Maybe we shouldn't be so quick as to say "If you voted for Obama then you must be THIS way" and you must think THIS and believe THAT." It really is a shame that people are such idealogues and so hung up on their way of life, and their beliefs that they leave no room for anyone else. THAT's the problem. Not the disagreements. Personally: I think Bush/Cheney did more damage to the American Image then Obama will ever do. They told the world that their way was the right way and that no one else's opinion mattered. You know what? People don't...
Forget it. You know absolutely nothing about Jewish life, history or culture so stop running off your anti-Jewish rants. What you are saying is CLASSIC ANTI-SEMITISM and you need to be called out for it. It's offensive and idiotic -- don't talk about what you don't know and don't pretend that your twisted views are facts -- they're not.

It IS these conspiracy theories that are giving Repubs and Conservs a bad name. I mean -- people think you're crazy, and incredibly stupid and ignorant. Even when facts clearly dispel the myths you hug to yourself like a child who will do anything to convince himself that Santa Claus does exist. You should focus yourself on real issues affecting the world today and not this happy horsesh*t...
Guess I wasn't clear. Point is there's lots of misinformation out there. I travel all over the US for business and meet all kinds of people and have found they all pretty much want the same general things. Black, white, gay, straight, Repubs, Dems, Others -- the differences aren't that great when it comes to what people generally want for themselves and their loved ones. Some of these rightwing nutters talk about "freedom, freedom, freedom" EXCEPT when it comes to your body, what adult you choose to marry, etc... then "no freedom for you!" The narrow-minded nastiness about Obama because he's not a priveleged white person is disgraceful and it disgraces our country which is supposed to be the place where "anyone can grow up to be...
Well Ben, glad to hear you've wised up about the whole birth certif. nonesense, but you've still go a long way to go. Here's the deal: Just because a person is black doesn't mean they want to overthrow the American gov't. Unlike Bush and the "amiable dunce" Reagan who's now elevated to folk hero, Obama refuses to play the role of macho, American cowboy hero. Neith Bush nor Reagan really understood much about people who were not like them -- wealthy, elitist white boys who thought the world owed them something. And, what exactly is the "American Perspective" you talk about? Should we declare war on Iran and Honduras because we don't like their election process? As for Iran, Obama has made it pretty clear that he feels the election...
If Doug the Thug Giles is your Dad, then you have surpassed him in the disgusting metaphors department. It's a bad journalistic habit to read something and take it completely out of context so it looks like something else that serves your purpose, but has nothing to do with the truth. Your comment about "killing as many babies as possible" was foolish and gratuitous -- you know darn well (or at least you should) that legal abortion has been around for more than 30 years - and saying that somehow abortion is the result of Obama's election, then well, I'll be gentle, you're a young lady -- how should I say this? Not very bright of you? Kinda dumb? If you think you're being clever, sarcastic and witty - you're wrong, my dear -- it's...
What, was that The Cato Inst. Report or another right-wing funded organization? 40% conservative?? Baloney. Truth be told: Most people in this country hold moderate views. Most people are pro-family and even those who call themselves "liberal" lead what a true Liberal Leftist would think is a pretty boring, traditional life.

-Most people are pro-choice.
-Most people are pro equal rights and don't believe in discriminating against gender and sexual orientation.
-Most people are non-violent and believe there need to be stricter laws around gun ownership.
-Most people believe captialism is the best system but agree it hasn't worked with health care.

There are small groups of people who are Far-Left and...
Thanks for the article, John. These conspriacy theories only further prove the Democrats point that these people are disturbed and not to be taken seriously.

Remember: The Repubs, Conservatives, Libertarians, whomever had years to vett Obama. Everyone knew he'd be a candidate back in 2004. If there was any truth, or an inkling of truth that he was born outside of Hawaii, then it would have been revealed long ago.

Some fact correction:

Siegfried: "Sarah Palin spends millions defending herself against harrassment by the Dems" How so? Has she filed a harrassment charge at all? Nope. Never happened. If you're in the public spotlight and you're running for office, you're open for scrutiny. No one has slandered...

Obama Could Work for The New York Times

Thank God there's only a limited number of you! According to TH and the posters,80% of Americans who generally approve of Obama (NOT on every issue - but generally trust him and think he's doing a good job) are stupid and gullible. Only 20% of Americans are smart - and they all post or write for this site. And the smart 20% can't get the stupid 80% to believe that Rush Limbaugh is a God to be revered. Nice spin folks, but you ARE going down. The more people read the stuff that is written here, the more they go running to the Democratic side. AND, that includes young people, Latinos, blacks, new citizens and other standard 'old white people who can't stomach the kind of hateful garbage that's spewed out. If you don't care, and just...
