I'm a retired 30 veteran police officer. This Sheriff is 110% right, law-enforcement is re-active and not-proactive. There's just not enough of them to be everywhere, or even close to a victim. Arm yourself, at least you'll have a fighting chance.

Any criminal in his right mind is going to know where the cops are when they commit their cirmes. You don't see a guy walking down the street and finding a cop car, commits his crime do you? You will also note that a cop cannot do anything until there is a crime commited. So, until someone is dead or about to be, cops can't do anything. So, now gun control folks, what do you do with that? I have more authority in my home than any cop does. No thanks gun control lobby. I'll protecy myself thankyou.
And thanks to you stupid libeals spending all our tax money on everthing except what is important, we can't "afford" our cops and fire fighters. Thanks, guys, thanks! Now, let me protect myself!

When he first wrote this recycled piece (April 2012) I asked him why he did not also condemn the person who stole the emails from the East Anglia. As the NYT link shows, there was condemnation of Gleick's action from those on all sides of the political spectrum.- Caught Red-Handed on Climate Change

Dear Comrade Mikey,

Why not admit that instead of Gleick making a "serious ethical error," that he committed a crime? Stealing is always wrong.

The irony is that you ask me...
