You don't wait to be given your freedom back; you take it back. You seem to be falling victim to the nonsense that our rights come from the government. Our rights are inalienable, they come from God. The rights of the government come from the people and are limited by the people. That is what the founders of this country intended and wrote in the Constitution, adopted by all the states. The Constitution is the document that the current president mendaciously promised to "preserve, protect and defend".

Mitt Romney was very wise to pivot on Barack Obama's impromptu statement that "voting is the best revenge" and frame the campaign in the final days as a choice between that negative message and Romney's "love of country."

I wouldn't say that if I thought Obama's statement was merely a slip of the tongue. Rather, I believe that in another unscripted moment, he once again revealed who he really is and the essence of his mindset.
