Mr. Sullum cherry picked a few examples to make his case. I remember when the main-stream media was displaying AIDS victims and all of them were educated, clean and well-spoken. Town Hall should have higher standards. Mr. Sullum should be required to include a disclaimer, as some advertisers are required to do. Or columnists should be denied "air time" as advertisers are denied when all they've got are testimonials.
I don't agree with our war on drugs. I don't think people who smoke dope should be made into criminals. I also don't think we should tolerate violent anti-social behavior by citizens or others. One of two problems: 1) The word, war, no longer has relevant meaning; 2) The Constitution no longer has relevant meaning.
If the definition of war is the problem, lets define it by number of boots on the ground. Let presidents without Congress send 100,000 troops to respond to provocations. Trooper 100,001 requires a declaration of war.

I suggest that the way to decide whether or not President Obama is charismatic is in the behavior of others. No question, many millions of people behave toward President Obama as we expect people to behave toward a charismatic leader. That doesn't mean you do.
