I'm surprised nobody picked up on the Andy Warhol reference, since he's the one who said "Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes". Ms. McCain's 15 minutes of fame were up long ago. I agree with Jan, Ray and John: Don't give her a spotlight!

When I was at Yale as a graduate student, it was rumored (and the facts seem to bear it out) that the "Yale curve" was 40% A's and 40% B's and my friends and I thought it was ridiculous.
Later, when I taught at Tulane, where the grading was much tougher, a student of mine commented that his girlfriend was taking the same class at another school in town and even though he understood it better than she did, he was getting a C and she was getting an A. At that point I understood why the more elite schools might want to inflate their grades.
However, if the critical thinking, writing and problem-solving skills are as bad as this article says, then clearly we need to raise standards at all levels of education and not...
