@Rodney47: "Can someone explain to me why some states allow opposition primary voting? It seems like insane madness to me." I agree COMPLETELY! I truly believe candidates like McCain, Bush, Dole, and other blah Repubs were chosen in early primaries by Independents and Dems in places like Florida and by the time they get to PA where I live, it's already over. To me, if you don't want to tell the government your affiliation then you don't get to pick the candidate. I don't care how few or many actually switch parties in the primaries, I want my candidate to have a chance whether early or late, and to know that our candidates are actually the choice of their party.

There is no "black" solution. There is an American solution. That solution is embodied in the principles laid out in our founding documents and also rests with a free market economy." Truer words were never said. The bias that exists is against thugs, criminals, and sociopaths, not fellow law-abiding citizens of any color or race who are at least trying to pull themselves up to be productive citizens.

Obama's father was Kenyan, not African American, so he is not a descendant of American slaves, slave owners, slave traders or anything of the sort. I think having a job is the only way for people to become independent, so does that mean it's the economy, stupid?
How about sistum? Do you also spell that differently in the South?
Just what the heck is this about? Who's trying to prevent citizens from voting? It sounds like more trumped up lies along the same line as "Republicans want to take away your birth control, force you into back alley abortions, and kill old people." Watch out, people, they and the media will convince the public that it's all true. It's Kafkaesque.
Sounds elitist to me. The Constitution does not make such a distinction.
I loved this column, by the way. The poetry of the seasons, the beauty of flowers blooming thru the snow, a day at the beach, the crisp chill of an October football game, might as easily be set to Simon & Garfunkel, Mozart, Janis Joplin, or in Charles Payne's case Vivaldi.
Michael2006 is correct, we have the brains to plan for any negative effects of a warmer planet. Whether it's warming, cooling, or maintaining is something to which we either can or cannot adapt. The media don't tend to think globally about the climate, just the northern hemisphere. It's hot in the US or Europe, but it's colder in S. America and Australia. It's called "the weather." Stop wasting money and killing the economy over it.

There's no such thing as Pro Choice. What's the choice? Pro lifers offer choice - keep the baby, give the baby up for adoption. Pro Choice is Pro Death. Reproductive rights is another word for abortion. Pro lifers are not opposed to birth control, although they differ on what is contraception and what is abortofacient.
