Taxing the Poor

This is so true! We live in Oregon... and are just on the edge of the poverty level (we own a home and are not what we consider "poor"). But we are in a weird situation. If I get a job to supplement my husband's income, my loss due to government policy is over 50%. I lose 15% to SSI, 10% (will be 15) to Fed Tax, 9 % to Oregon state tax... plus we lose about 15 to 25%of our earned income credit. (We already pay $1750 property tax). Plus if I get a job, my income may disqualify our son's Pell Grants, as well as prehaps make us have to pay for obama health insurace (which we don't have). Not to mention gas to get to work. We feel so squeezed.... There is no way out of this mess.

What's Wrong with Public Nudity?

Safety (especially for women and children). Respect. Public Health. Mental health issues.. There are a lot of reasons to wear clothing. God's laws make sense because there ARE reasons for them.. even secular reason.
The President ran on higher taxes and was re-elected.. but that doesn't mean the Republicans were re-elected on that stand. Raising taxes so the president can keep spending all our money on new cellphones for the poor, condoms for college girls, as well as porn and partying for his political friends, would be foolish at least, and political suicide for the Republicans.
Exactly. Jesus himself made statments against Herod, a political figure. He disobeyed the rulers of his day when it went against God's will and Word. Why should churches (no matter if they are liberal or conservative) give up Religious Freedom and be controlled financially by the government to get Freedom of Speech? You get both, not one or the other!

Reading Jeremiah during an election like this can get real scary real quick. God will judge.. but we can have peace in the meantime, by fearing the LORD and praying for this Nation to turn again to Him.
It isn't true. We all pay taxes one way or another.. and I bet more rich people vote Democratic than Republican.
Just because you are poor doesn't mean you're stupid. Many poor people know better than to vote for Obama.

Akin and His Critics

We all know of women like the stripper that claimed the team players raped her.. but was lying. Or others that simply changed their minds. So I guess that is what he meant by it not being "legitimate" rape. Of course, a woman that is stressed is more likey to miscarry. And we have also heard that shall we say "a pleasant experience" leads to more fertility... so it would follow that rape victims are less likely to get pregnant. On the other hand, he did say that "somehow that doesn't work" so right in his comments Akins admitted forcibly raped women do get pregnant. I don't see how that is so offensive.

You are so right.. and if the left had their way they would try to make every abortion seem like it is a hard case.. poverty, rape etc. But we all know the truth.
All you have to do is read a bunch of fertility websites to get that impression. But just like drugs cause birth defects.. but not all birth defects are because of drugs.. but he did apologize. I wish other politicians were so easy to straighten out.
Akins is right. It is the rapist who should be punished not the child.
