If he's learning on the job, when does the learning begin?
Do hope character (integrity) is coming back as an admired trait in the President. Clinton's most lasting legacy will be "character doesn't matter". That's when we started down this road.

I'd love it if Obama would run for mayor of Chicago. Then he's only screw them up more instead of the entire country. And since you are running for mayor Emmett, I'll vote for you. I understand you don't even have to live in Chicago to vote either.

Obama made a lengthy speech (aren't they all?) during the Democrat campaign dubbed "Just Words". He tells us "speeches don't solve all problems" and that we need to "inspire the country to believe again" or it doesn't matter "how many policies and plans we have. The American people want to believe in change again." Well Mr. Obama, we don't believe you ... or your policies and plans. The good news is you ARE inspiring the American people to stand up, find their voice and take action to make lots of changes in 2010. Keep up the good work!
I usually agree with Neal and his astute observations, so very surprised to see this article. Neal has missed the point on this one. Obama's original syllabus clearly asking students to set goals (that teachers would monitor) to support and help HIM. Not our country, not each other ... HIM. The outcry caused him to retreat rather abruptly, so our actions accomplished what we set out to do. To tell him "hands off our kids!" His entire revised speech talking about personal responsibility reeked of hypocrisy. He wants government dependence -- THAT's what we are fighting.

Tort Reform: Remedy or Red Herring?

Jennifer522 Wrote: Sep 15, 2009 12:30 PM
After reading this article, I decided to take a look at the author's biography. What a surprise to read he is a ..... lawyer!! So of course tort reform is a minor need and we are going on the wrong track to even consider it. I agree with a previous writer ... have the losing party pay punitive damages and court costs if they lose. Then maybe those 800# class action commercials for medical malpractice will cease. (You know, where the plaintiffs get 45 cents and the lawyers get 45 million!)
