Some people will twist anything to prove their point. Remember that liberals are the ones that spliced together video to show that Romney said things that he didn't really say. Can you trust them now. Did you notice in the chart about 15% of the pay taxes, and about 15% get money from the government. So does that mean 70% of us pay no taxes and get nothing from the government, liberal math. To Dark Matter, people that judge people of the past by todays standards will never understand history. Pull your head out form where ever it is stuck and learn some real history

17 continued the reasons for which it was built, and has paid for its self. Just because the dam was build during the depression does not make it a new deal project. Has any President taking credit for something that happen that he nothing to do with, and professors that want to make that president look good continuing myth. Shame on all the people continue the myth just because the timing was the same as the presidents. And shame on you for not learning a little bit of history.
Somebody needs to read some history. Hoover Dam way built to stop flooding something it has never failed to accomplished. Hoover Dam contracts were completed prior to the stock market crash and had nothing to do with the new deal. The states that have part of the colorado river in the state built the Dam. Hoover Dam had to have contracts to sell enough power to pay for the Dam prior to starting the Dam. The original purchasers of the power have still never revived any power. Buy the time the dam was finished WWII had started and the war effort got all the power. So lets take a quick summary of the Dam, it had nothing to do with the new deal and was not part of Keynesian economics, it was build for practical reasons and accomplished
I agree that no more taxes is a good idea, but there are some things that need to be understood about a VAT . First the government will just spend the money. But a VAT is not only a non progressive tax it is a regressive tax. The poor pay a hirer percent of their income in tax than the rich. I don't mind a flat tax, but a tax where the poor pay more? When the VAT was started in Europe, it was also referred to as the accounts full employment act. The VAT is so complicated that companies will beg to go back to the terrible system we have now. The goal should be to reduce government spending and make things fairer and more straight forward. All of which the VAT will make worse.
