The terrorists don't seem to mind killing innocent civilians, they did it on 9/11/01 but you say we're not allowed to attack them unless we can guarantee no innocent civilians will be killed. How exactly is anyone supposed to prosecute a war in that way?

How do you win an ideological war when not only is Al Qaida telling the Islamic world that the United States and her allies are the great Satan but their own religious and national leaders are telling them that they are right; that the US and Israel are the bad guys? Bill O'Reilly got in trouble for saying that we have "a Muslim problem." Until the religious and national Muslim leaders begin condemning terrorist attacks and begin going after Al Qaida and other terrorists organizations, as well as the schools that are radicalizing young Muslim men, in their nations, Bill is right. We should start viewing these national and religious leaders, who are refusing to publicly condemn these attacks, and the Jihad itself, in that light.

While I don't agree with the idea of amnesty for all the illegal immigrants presently in the United States, and while I strongly support securing the border before anything else happens, I don't see how we're ever going to get the twenty million illegals, some of whom have been here for decades, to leave the country. Do you actually believe we can find, and deport, the 20 million illegals in this country? I don't buy it! I think we need to secure the border, accept that most of these 20 million are staying, teach them English, make them, and their children, into good American citizens and then not allow ourselves to get into this same situation again in 20 years.

Avoiding the Wars That Never End

I can't disagree with Mr. Friedman's ideas. The US can not war against radical Islam continuously and unilaterally. We have to allow our allies, in some cases even push our allies, to engage the enemy themselves and aid in the war. Like with the French in Mali right now, and to a lesser degree in Syria and Libya, we should provide intel when and where we can and provide forces when absolutely necessary. All foreign aide should immediately be stopped to any country using Sharia Law. Islamic nations, in some way, should be held responsible for terrorists born/educated/radicalized in those nations The US should seek energy independence denying Arab/Muslim nations those oil dollars and making their lives that much more difficult.
I agree. The Republicans do lack some spine and they don't actually cut spending. Which is why I am SO PROUD of those 50 or so "Tea Party" candidates, who were elected back in 2010, who have gotten themselves some spine and are standing up and being just as stubborn about Taxes as Obama is. Obama considers "compromising" to be "Do everything I want," and wants to raise taxes on the so-called rich. The Tea Party Candidates are saying "No! We'll do it our way or no way!" And they won't vote for more taxes... for anyone.

The guy in Connecticut was obviously mentally ill. We already have laws stopping the mentally ill from having guns. It's already illegal for the guy in Connecticut to posses a gun without a license. Which is why he stole his mother's guns. It's already illegal for the guy in Connecticut to carry a gun onto school grounds. I'm curious what new law would have stopped this mass shooting when the above three obviously DIDN'T stop him? Was it a fully automatic rifle? Limit clip size to 10 rounds or so? Okay... I've only fired a pistol once in my life but I don't remember it taking that long to eject the empty clip, slam a new clip home, chamber a round and begin shooting again? And if the shooter is carrying multiple guns....
You're right of course, my apologies to Roger Moore. :) And yes, I agree. Tom Cruise and Micheal Moore have a right to keep their money. Just the same as the oil company who sold a product that the customer wanted to buy at a price the customer was willing to pay. If they made a billion dollars in profit, good for them. They should pay their taxes and get to keep the rest.
I'm betting, if we went to Tim Robbins, Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, Bruce Springsteen and Roger Moore and Warren Buffet, and told them "They had enough money" I'm betting they'd change their politics real quick.
The Country is suffering with a spending problem, you're absolutely correct. But President Obama is suffering with a TAX problem. He wants to tax the rich. He wants everyone to pay their fair share. Dr. Hanson's point, I think, was that maybe we should make sure EVERYONE is paying their fair share. If $10 million dollars is enough, according to Obama, then why can't Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp, both of whom have way more than $10 million dollars, take a serious pay cut? If they take a pay cut, they don't need to spend as much to make movies, therefore we, the 99% as the left has labeled us, shouldn't have to continue to pay $10 for a movie ticket, or $60 for a concert ticket to see Mick Jagger, who also has made way more than $10 million.
You're right. Let's leave all those Arab Terrorists alone. Let's pull all of our troops out of Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and all the others and lets just move them all into the one nation in that part of the world that is friendly to the US... Israel. We'll aid the Israeli military in kicking all the Palestinians out of Gaza and the West Bank - let Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt deal with the refugees - and then make it clear, any attack on Israel, Europe or the US by Arabs, whether terrorists or military, is grounds for war and the war will be prosecuted to WIN, there will be no worrying over "collateral damage" this time. I'm surprised a leftist would take such a hard line with the Arabs. :)

Why is it that Leftists always scream racism but they're always the first ones to mention race?
