I think this is mostly election grandstanding. The Democrats know gun legislation is political suicide. It took them 12 years to get the House and Senate back after the last time they did this stupid sh_it. Still they got it back only because the GOP was scr_ewing the pooch so bad. The Dems just want their liberal constituents to see something is being done. This is all smoke screen for reelection campaigns.

“This is a tough battle,” Feinstein said in her opening remarks. “Some of us have been working to reduce gun violence for decades.”

And if it was election grandstanding it would have been done before the election. But there was no talk about gun control then, even by the liberal press. Those of us who said Obama would engage in illegal gun control activity after the election were called paranoid. Now those who said he wouldn't are called fools.
