But being a "pragmatist and moderate" IS the same thing as "a progressive idealogue." See just about any work by Dewey for confirmation.

The words pragmatist and moderate existed before Dewey. Just because he employs these terms for his own purposes does not mean a moderate or pragmatist fits into his framework
