The Constitution was written to require age 35 as the age of maturity sufficient to be President. However, when that was written, one was a grown-up at 15, expected to have done something worthy of acclaim by 20, successfully run something at 25, be considered a community leader (not organizer) at 30, and wise at 35. Today, the average 30 year old is just starting a family, career, and a home. In Washington's day 45 was old, today 75 is just getting there. After a few of these 40 and 50 somethings, it is readily apparent that the age requirement needs to be bumped 20+ years.

It’s one thing for a politician to “massage” the truth ... it happens all the time. But it’s quite another for one to so brazenly repeat an easily disprovable lie.

But, as in the case of President Obama and sequestration, when the fear of being caught in a lie is removed because those charged with being “watchdogs” are active participants, brazenly lying carries no more risk than saying “hello.”
