The purpose of all the Bill of Rights is to protect the individual from government intrusion since those types of intrusions were practiced by the British and other European governments. So the founders were writing for themselves and posterity and were not concerned with the type of weapon. They provided for an amendment process, so if the Second Amendment is so out-of-date and irrelevant, then repeal with another Amendment like Prohibition was repealed. Otherwise, it is there. It is pathetic that this issue was raised by liberals before the families could mourn for their kids.

The key fallacy of so-called gun control laws is that such laws do not in fact control guns. They simply disarm law-abiding citizens, while people bent on violence find firearms readily available.

If gun control zealots had any respect for facts, they would have discovered this long ago, because there have been too many factual studies over the years to leave any serious doubt about gun control laws being not merely futile but counterproductive.
