I decided to expand my reading on Townhall.com and look at Mr. Mitchell's article today. I have to agree with earlier postings today that he did not lift a finger to learn about Objectivism. Rand consistently demonstrated respect for the poor and for those who pursue their passions even if those passions were to help the poor. She HATED the idle rich. Mr. Mitchell should work harder. I won't waste my valuable time reading his columns any more. That is in my rational self interest.

Imagine a world where, "One for the road" is back in fashion. Little old ladies will be able to drive to the market whenever they'd like. I won't have to worry about getting stuck behind little old ladies driving to the market. The roads will be safer AND more efficient. I live in the DC area and am appalled by the lack of efficiency. And last but not least: I will be able to drink as much beer/wine/whiskey as I want (especially whiskey). Yes that was my first point too but that's how important it is! I still enjoy Jonah's writing.

Well mark today as the first day I disagree with Jonah Goldberg. Nearly all the bad things he lists are already possible. A police officer can pull you over for no reason today. You can be limited from certain areas with signs and fences today. All the other problems can be dealt with via laws. Police want access to our GPS info - but they DON'T have access to our GPS info. There has long been assault on our civil liberties and that assault will continue. The robot cars will be no different. The concerns about civil liberties shouldn't alter our technology potential.

What Am I?

Sir, I understand your comments about 'liberalism' and 'libertarianism'. I disagree. I am a 'liberal'. They are 'socialists'. To add to the confusion, I consider myself a conservative as well. America is a free-market, liberal democracy. I swore to protect and uphold the Constitution, therefore, I am a liberal. When we allow our political opponents to define us, we're half way to losing. It's time to take bake that word and it's time to take back our country.

Conservative or Conservationist?

How many slaves who helped build the pyramids could identify and fix problems that they saw? But nobody wanted to listen to them because they were only slaves. How many women could have developed new items, medicines etc, but nobody listened to them because they were only women. Economists have said that the American slavery system was the worst way to grow cotton. It would have been far better to free these men and women and pay them then to keep them as slaves. Free-market liberalism (what we now call conservatism) is truly the best way to make all of our lives better.
