You obviously are a product of the public education system. As a recently retired educator with 35 years in public education, I believe I know something of what our public schools have become and it isn't pretty. There are many problems. Yes, many parents do not support teachers and are often too busy to make sure Johnny gets his homework done. Education in our society is not considered important as it is in some other countries. Our public schools are near the bottom of the list when compared to other country's test scores, even though we spend more money on education than any other country.
