The fact that he took a rifle which his mom had "legally" purchased doesn't mean that the rest of us law abiding gun owners cannot be trusted with an AR15. I served 4 years in our military with a top secret clearance, working on nuclear weapons systems. I have never committed a crime. I have one traffic violation from when I was 18 years old, plus two parking tickets, one of which I fought and had nullified. I have 5 lovely children and a great wife, whom I've always been faithful to. I work hard, pay taxes, and play by the rules. Because pistol grips, along with "barrel shrouds" (My M1 Garand and '03 Springfield have barrel shrouds too, come to think of it, as do just about every other military issue rifle since the Civil War, they're just made out of wood instead of that evil black plastic) look scary, and can be used to "spray fire from the hip". Anyone ever try to fire an AR from the hip? Or a shotgun with a pistol grip? Not very comfortable or practical. Or accurate. Not that accuracy is critical with a shotgun.

I am very lucky to have 5 healthy children. I don't need a valid reason to own an AR15. My owning an AR15 had no impact on Newtown, absolutely none. I was thousands of miles away. She was trying to get him committed, but ran into difficulties getting it done. Also, the Connecticut legislation voted down a measure that would have allowed the state to commit someone if there was a reason to think that would prevent them from harming others.

The deaths of 20 children is indeed tragic, however, using the tragedy to push for meaningless legislation which will do nothing to prevent similar massacres (See: Massacre, Columbine)., is pointless, and in fact, obscene.

Militiamen were expected to appear for muster bearing arms and ammo similar to and compatible with what the Regular military had in use AT THAT TIME.
Since we "compromised" and restricted ownership of full-auto,true assault rifles,that leaves the semi-auto versions for civilian militia use.

During the LA riots of 1992,the police REFUSED to enter the riot zone to protect citizens,and Korean shopkeepers used "assault weapons" to hold off the rioting mob that came to burn them and their families alive in their shops/homes. that's just ONE good reason,not that we need ANY reason to own them.

I told you. My owning an AR15 has absolutely nothing to do with what happened at Newtown, or Aurora, or Vietnam, or to Gabby Giffords. The fact that you try to tie my ownership of any firearm to any of those events shows that your brain does not work, logically. I'm not selfish. How could I be with 5 kids? I'm not inhumane. The deaths of those 20 kids and 6 adults made me think. It made me think how stupid that woman was to not better secure her guns. It made me think that she should have gotten him help a lot sooner. It made me think that liberals with Gun Free Zones are more responsible for those deaths than anyone who legally owns an AR15 for lawful purposes is.

It makes me think. For instance, if state hospital facilities were available, maybe yahoos like Lanza, Ted Kaczynski, and Jared Loughner would be out of harm's way, hopefully getting treatment to quell their homicidal urges. But no, liberals fear that people like this would become stigmatized by being labeled a psycho. So, because of liberal actions, again, children were needlessly murdered. I care a lot about lives being lost, but what really infuriates me is that liberals "think" they know what is right for the rest of America, when, in fact, they see an opportunity to restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens. They are absolutely pathetic.

I am pro life. I would not condone the taking of another human life with the exception of self defense and/or war. I didn't say it was OK for those kids to die. You're looney tunes, lady.
