Why do you assume it's a pander? What qualities does Tim Scott possess which makes him less qualified than some one else. If not Scott, who would you say is the strongest conservative and why?

That's right, Bruce and you'll be among the first hollering "racist". This is another word, like "antisemitism", that has no meaning coming from you people.

Ryan, we know that if Gov Haley chooses Rep Scott to fill Sen DeMint's term, the GOP will still be racist. Not Gov Haley, the GOP.

Blacks are supposed to see themselves as victims, not self-respecting people who believe in taking responsibility for their own actions and attempting to better themselves without free handouts. This isn't a put down of Scott, as his voting record is superior to most Stupid Party member. It is a put down for the fools who believe if they select a black for senator this will prove the GOP isn't "racist".

It won't work, Not only will the GOP fail to gain black votes but they'll still be called "racists".

Many conservatives believe Rep. Tim Scott would be a good choice but some have discussed the possibility of Haley appointing a "placeholder" candidate to serve until the 2014 election. Haley has released a statement today about the matter.

“As I continue to consider the impending U.S. Senate vacancy, many have discussed the possibility of a ‘placeholder’ appointee who would pledge to serve...
