This just in: Washington (CNN) - Donald Trump will endorse Mitt Romney for president, sources with knowledge of the endorsement tell CNN.
Romney must be counting his blessings. A Trump endorsement for him would have only fueled the "rich guy" narrative. Unless Trump is pumping money into the Gingrich campaign his endorsment amounts to very little except a bump in puiblicity for a few days.

Policing the World

Our military should have the strength and capability to destroy our enemy anywhere in the world at any time. If we maintain such a military our enemy is loathe to attack us. This does not mean we should police the world or occupy hostile territory. It does mean we need bases around the world from which to operate. Our fundamental problem is that we have forgotten what war actually means and how to win one. In war you destroy the enemy's capital, kill their leaders, degrade their military capabilities, deny them vital resources and ensure they cannot retaliate. You do not occupy their country indefinitely and rebuild their infrastructure for them. Under current policy we will continue to have long drawn out conflicts with undefined goals.

The Florida Smear Campaign

Your entire article is invalidated by its first sentence, "The Republican establishment is pulling out all the stops to try to keep Newt Gingrich from becoming the party's nominee for President of the United States". Both sides have used half truths, taken words out of context and inflamatory rhetoric. The difference is that 1) Romney has more money and a better organization to get the message out and 2) Gingrich has shown he is unable to handle the attacks. If Gingrich can't take these kind of attacks now how in the world do you think he would be able to deal with the Obama smear machine's onslaught of negative ads in the general? Do you think Obama will "play fair"? Its not the "establishment" thats hurting Gingrich its his weak response.
Santorum's gunning for VP.
I hope he runs for the Senate and replaces that loser Nelson.
And yet he's up by double digits in the Florida Primary. And Gingrich is stumbling unable to handle the attacks. Seems the stronger candidate is Romney. Romney has handled all the dirt thrown at him, answered in kind and come out ahead. All your gnashing of teeth and pulling of hair aside Romney + a conservative congress means a conservative agenda and repeal of the failed Obama policies.
I love me some West. Let's hope he runs for Nelson's Senate seat.
Bad examples. Dole was the Senate leader and the Congress had just come off a bloody political showdown where they appeared obstructionist and Clinton was an encumbent with a good economy behind him. Additionally Dole was saddled with Gingrich's negatives. McCain was fighting Republican malaise as well as the "historical" candidate narrative. Romney was actually the conservative candidate in the last primary if you recall. This time running as the outsider, conservative "moderate", with executive experience in both the private sector and in the public makes him an ideal candidate for this election cycle.
Nope, everything has been spilled. Newt threw the kitchen sink at him and the dirt failed to stick. Every attack has made him stronger and insulated him for the general. Thanks.
