Wishing You Capitalism on Earth

The idea that Jesus promoted capitalism is ludicrous beyond words. He didn't promote any particular economic system, but he flat out stated several times that those who hoard wealth are in dire danger of going to hell (see e.g. the parable of Lazarus and the rich man). This woman has no clue what the NT teaches.

The idea that you are an authority on Scripture is ludicrous beyond words. He promoted treating others as one would be treated. The ONLY economic system that involves a complete lack of coercion of one's fellow man is capitalism. That individuals - NOT governments which Jesus disdained (not to mention tax collectors) - were responsible for taking care of the least among us in no way conflicts with capitalism.

Too many people (including some religious leaders) are promoting the idea that re-distribution of wealth or “social justice” is the best way to foster peace. But Christians and Jews need only read the Old Testament to see that God condemns stealing and envy so much that he gave Moses commandments like: “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, and “You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.”

And in the New Testament, Christ
