I understand that McCaskill and the Dems actually contributed lots of money to Akin's primary campaign. He took the money and the votes (of cross-over Democrats) and was proud of his 6-point margin of victory. I'm not sure exactly how much money was involved, but I think it was about 30 pieces of silver...
