Will 99,000 Schools Have to Fight for Obama’s 1,000 New Resource Officers?

One armed guard at a school means all the killer has to do is first shoot the guard. Then he takes the guards gun,and goes on his spree, with no one able to fight back effectively. it's the same as before. OTOH,having armed teachers and other school employees, the killers do not know who has a gun,or how many guns oppose them. Thus the risks are too high for the attack, and it does not happen.

Plain clothes guard with concealed weapon blends into the other adult school staff. Much harder to pick out as first target, unless the killer is familiar with the people in the school, which the Newtown killer was. Bulletproof vest worn underneath would help that problem though.

plus, what happens when the guard calls in sick,or goes on vacation? you need more than one guard to cover that.
then there are open-campus schools, where each classroom opens on the outdoors, not into a inner hallway. No way to control access. One single guard could not cover the entire campus, would get caught out of position if an attack occurred.

You get multiple guardians.

then it becomes more complex.
armed teachers and other school employees is the simplest, lowest cost, and best solution.

also, with all those STRANGERS on school grounds, who is to know who belongs and who doesn't? The teachers know, and so does the Principal and counselors.

Among his 23 gun control executive orders, President Obama authorized the spending of $150 million to hire “up to 1,000” armed resource officers and school counselors.

Just one problem: there are 98,817 government schools in America, according to the National Center for Education Statistics, a federal agency. Therefore only 1 percent of schools would potentially benefit from Obama’s new government solution.

Apparently the other 99 percent (hey, where have we heard that term before?) would be left to the whims of deranged individuals who think it’s acceptable to slaughter children.

Hiring 1,000 new government employees to potentially cover, on...
