I suspect advertisers that employ Mickelson began to feel the heat,and told him to apologize or they'd drop him. Then he decided that had a bigger effect on his income than the tax hikes. So he apologizes now,and later quietly moves out of CA. the guy should have moved first,then said why,since CA's tax hike is a done deal. Moral of the story; never tell your intentions in advance.

Phil Mickelson is a professional golfer. He makes boatloads of money. Millions. What’s more, he makes boatloads of money for a lot of other people in the process, including generating massive contributions to charity.
