Newtown Gives us Much to Consider

WHY some person goes on a murder rampage does not matter. there can be 100s of "whys" ,and we cannot catch them all before they kill people. What matters is that we have good guys with guns in place to stop them before their killing spree runs out of ammo. We do that by allowing lawful armed carry in most places open to the public, and allowing armed school employees. We can't afford having police or armed guards in every school,at every entrance, nor everywhere in public. Having armed teachers (and other school employees)is like having plainclothes police scattered all around the school,at no cost. it's the smart thing to do. The same goes for armed citizens in public places.

It would take some career development time for the training for those who want to become part of the security of the school community. I know lots of teachers who would love to skip the bullying and self esteem staff development days and do something useful for the school and the lives of the community

I STRONGLY disagree.
it does NOT take a lot of training for any ODC to use a handgun in self-defense.
Many people have done it with minimal or no training. Remember we're dealing with people who have gotten there Concealed Carry Permit, and that takes some level of training and familiarity with their handgun. These people also have given the task of self-defense some thought beforehand. This sort of defense is NO different than any they would encounter in other public places.
Yes,it would be best if all the armed school employees got special training, but it is not absolutely necessary, nor should it be any impediment to armed school employees.
Lastly, don't forget no lawfully armed (permitted) ODC has shot any innocents during their DGU.

I also note there's lots of NRA-certified firearm instructors willing to give training to armed school employees. Very likely for free.

Yet the loony left attempt to demonize one particular inanimate object when there are other inanimate objects that murder more people every year.

gun grabbers refuse to recognize that having armed school employees would be a DETERRENT that would PREVENT such attacks.
Mass murderers seek out "gun free" zones where no one is equipped to stop them.

it is called the path of least resistance and they always lead to a park, or a school or other areas designated as gun free zones.

I don't get why anyone would put up a sign that clearly states that they are not protected.
How are the Home Depot sales figures for the yard signs that read. --This Residence Has No Security System--?

Nothing strikes deeper to the heart than the loss of children. It's one more reason why the horror in Newtown, Conn., has hurt our nation so badly.

I do not believe there is any human suffering like the suffering of a parent who loses a child.

I know it from personal experience. I lost a beautiful, young teenage daughter almost 10 years ago, and the pain never goes away.

When tragedy strikes, we want to do something. It is a natural human instinct that when we suffer, we conclude it is because something is broken and to want...
