I don' think it's demographics so much as how the MEDIA presents issues and the candidates positions to the various ethnic groups. Republicans or conservatives are fighting against a largely "progressive" liberal media. They are NOT getting their views across, the media TWISTS them and people hear something not entirely accurate. It's far more difficult to correct a mistruth once it's spread to the public. The other side likes to use catchy phrases that STICK in people's minds, while conservatives are left trying to explain complex problems, ideas, and solutions. Note how nobody asks the DemocRATs for specifics.

Reagan had the same problem with the media, yet he was able to cut through it. It baffles me that conservatives can't come up with someone who is savvy enough to do what Reagan did, and speak directly to the American people. Oddly, Ross Perot had a bit of that. He went on shows with simple charts and simple explanations, and people understood him.

Bill. Reagan could not get elected in these times.
In the past 23 yrs. Millions more have been indoctrinated. Reagan had 3 mil illegals.Today it could be as high as 15 mil.
Outright voter fraud, while it existed is not as rampant as it is today.
The marxist party now does this openly.Just like the MSM now openly admits they support the marxist party.Back then, they pretended to be objective.

I do not believe the media was so aggressively against Reagan as they are today's conservatives. it's gotten MUCH worse these days. it's not passive resistance any more, its ACTIVE and PARTISAN work against conservatives.
like JOURNOLIST,Soros Open Society project and all it's spinoffs, etc. also Hollywood is far more anti-conservative than before, they're literally coming out of the closet.

Frank and Jay,

I don't know if you're old enough to have experienced the Reagan days, but it was brutal. They said he was too stupid to run the country, just an actor, and probably slept all the time while others ran the country. They constantly made fun of him. But when he spoke directly to the people, he connected. Listen to some of his old speeches, and compare them with what Romney said during the campaign. And the journalists still pretend they're objective. It's just that we have alternative media that point out how untrue that is.

"AWL is sybil or USC."

Of course not. Awl is a misguided racist and bigot, but he's not a spammer. He's actually conservative, which makes me happy that he votes on my side, but then again, I'm embarrassed that he's the embodiment of all the stereotypes libs make of conservatives.

Huh? Got the wrong thread?

Some media pundits see in the growing proportion of non-white groups in the population a growing opposition to the Republican Party that will sooner or later make it virtually impossible for Republicans to win presidential elections or even to control either house of Congress. But is demography destiny?

Conventional wisdom in the Republican establishment is that what the GOP needs to do, in order to win black votes or Hispanic votes, is to craft policies specifically targeting these groups. In other words, Republicans need to become more like Democrats.

Whether in a racial context or in other contexts, the...
