Well one thing I noticed since Nancy Pelosi and Obama heaped lavish praise on Occupy, they have completely stopped the adoration. I suspect because of a few serious crimes, a psychiatric event handled initially by police and as demonstrated in Oakland, violent rioting and close to 1000 arrests in New York alone,a president and a high level member of Congress are probably not going to endorse lawbreakers. Jay R
Jonah, I do not think that Occupy is enamored of Obama because he represents the establishment. In addition, why are you so sure they will even go to the polls? They fit the profile of young people who will skip voting to do other things ie, what would motivate them to support what they consider the dudes? I am more concerned with security issues mostly because when I was young I worked for International security companies and alarm designers for 10 years. These individuals can be violent. There have been two rapes on OWS grounds and vicious and violent rioting. As an ex-New Yorker I am fearful of a that, possibly fatal to a resident. Turn it around it maybe one of their occupiers is a victim. This may ignite the nation. Jay R

Debate Jars Perry out of Sweet Spot

Jay R Wrote: Sep 15, 2011 2:05 PM
Jonah, Rick Perry is an excellent candidate for the GOP but I am going with Romney, who I think will garner Tea Party votes anyway. Romney seems a little quicker and I believe has broader mass appeal. Voters in most of the country are not big supporters of blasting animals from helicopters. While I do support capital punishment on the merits, Perry's statistics are awfully high and will be an objection. When he spent 2 days discussing evolution, it occurred to me that the Scopes trial is not what's happening today. Again, Perry is delightful, but I believe that Romney can execute the defeat of the unending recession a lot quicker. After the election, alacrity is important on health care and jobs.

Is Weiner Being Frank?

Jay R Wrote: Jun 07, 2011 2:45 AM
I have empathy for Rep Weiner but there is a pattern of evident instability here. All of us have had to lower the volume as he would rant and rave and virtually scream at his opponents. It is possible that his personal problems which are unacceptable as a powerful Congressman may be all balled up into a impulse oriented disorder. With National Security in question and with his party recoiling most observers think that he will leave prior to the Ethics Hearing scheduled. He will not go through with that. Jay R

Run, Paul Ryan, Run

Jonah, I said it in 2008, the voters have to do their due diligence before legislation is affirmed or repudiated and get more involved in any measure that will cut our debt and deficit. The debt to China is especially troubling. When we vote in 2012 we should not be depending on slick Madison Avenue political ads to acquire our information for decisions. The trouble is we should not be depending on ads to steer us now, the election is too far down the road and the need to bring down the numbers that put us in the red is critical. Ads are biased and often depend on scare tactics. Jay Adler Comment

White House Hoping Triumph Will Transfer

Jonah, Whether the economy and unemployment, high gas prices, global calamities and the housing crisis improve before 2012, this was a single event and really a military strike. All Americans were proud of our exemplary Navy Seals and the outstanding leadership of President Obama. Keep in mind that none of this puts food on our table and money in our pockets. I am a small investor ans sure I am to blame, But during the bailouts and stock corrections I have lost half my net worth. Now I have an A student going to college in 2012, even if my wife and I have to take more jobs this kid is going. The thing is we are starting to tour colleges and after reviewing the costs, my family is not going to be thinking about military strikes,...

President Takes a Bogey in a Time of Crisis

Jonah, Journalists around the country and and certainly not in the majority yet think something is up and it is going to hit the fan. Over the years I have commented and enjoyed your articles. What about Mexico erupting, Japan in Nuclear crisis, the Recession, the budget talks, gas prices and at least two other Middle East countries as we speak are imploding. There are many experienced people that are not buying this unprecedented behavior. Look how much is happening. I am starting to think all of this is going to spill and I don't mean oil. The US will never be compromised, we know that. There are plenty of people in our government that are unique checks and balances. Jay Adler Coment

On the GOP Menu for 2012

Jonah, at this point and I know that it is very early I must say that if the Obama Misery factor is way up, he will lose under any condition. Do you remember George HW Bush, the most heavily bioed candidate in history (He jumped out of a plane in WW11) got trounced by a Governor who had scandals going while they were running. Jonah, forgive me, but if the voters are really steamed, Charley Seen couldl be the next President. If the voters go to polls with a vengeance to change leadership, I know that Romney can win. His two negatives can be mollified. Normally, I like the Southern Strategy of Huckabee running with Romney as VP. Those two could go on to landslide territory. Jay Adler Comment

Obama's Green-Jobs Fantasies

Jay R Wrote: Mar 09, 2011 2:05 AM
John, my sister and I remember you well from the Upper West Side and it is nice to see you on Fox. I remember a stump trip that Obama made in support of Harry Reid to this desolate area in Nevada.Obama not only promised Green jobs but he knew the number that he would create, 40,000?. In addition he spoke about building facilities as well. I blogged on this asking whether there was a website up taking applications. Also, what kind of credentials do you need to get a green job. Do you relocate. Can the 50% unemployed in our cities receive training? Smoking Mirrors. He should talk to us shortly before hiring. Jay Adler Comment
This may be a silly question but the only dumb question is the one that is not asked.Based on the article above, how does someone come in contact with Obama and tells him off as explained.? Do they write these terrible slurs to him, why would he read something like that. He apparently expresses frustration at receiving on his desk difficult problems to solve. There is no President in history that does not have expert advisors to confront these economic and military and Intelligence matters, usually they brief the President at a round table and then he can inform us about the status of the problem. This is in no way a criticism,it is acceptable protocol. Jay Adler Comment
