Spending unquestioned trillions on war followed immediately by gutting social spending certainly makes it appear as if Republicans are not letting the financial crisis of 2008 go to waste. Republicans have long been outspoken as to gutting social services and it appears as if the 2008 financial crisis was the opportunity in waiting, helped along by unmitigated, unrelenting, unquestioned spending on war. Add into the complete lack of faith in today's seniors with the cut-off age of 55 and I believe that case can easily be made that the Republican Medicare plan is simply a political opportunity and nothing to do with financial responsibility. Nary a peep on the waste, fraud and abuse during the last decade of war.
Paul Ryan appeared alongside presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney earlier today to officially join the Republican ticket. Democrats leaped into action to discredit Ryan, using the same line they've been using for a long time.
