Now the Senators and Congressman will get to go back to their voters and say A) I didn't have time to read the bill and B) If we didn't pass something than taxes would have gone up for everyone. But the reality is both sides needed to pay off the lobbyist and donors. The Washingtonian parties don't have loyalty that isn't Hence the loopholes and political pork in the bill. It's silly to believe anything else. Washingtonians are boringly obvious. Their goal is money and power. Any theatrics to get to point B is theatrics.

What could go wrong, right? According to Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee, members of the upper chamber had -- at most -- six minutes to read the “fiscal cliff” bill before they voted on it. Little wonder, then, that the so-called “compromise” (save for a few silver linings) was in many respects a complete and total disaster (via Reason):
