The Spike that broke the people’s back

When we take out-of-town guests to visit the Spike, they always say, "Golden Spike? Wasn't that somewhere in Utah?" My brother-in-law was very upset when he visited and realized that the "Spike" in North Platte was vaguely disquised as the place where two railroads were joined. He thought it was a shame of a sham. Promontory Point, UT is the correct place. For visitors & citizens who know railroad history, it is an embarrassment to our community, as well as, an unmasked bandit taking citizens tax $$ and snubbing & pooh-poohing any who object. The Spike promoters and fans, along with Murphy, should be ashamed, but lack integrity to quit robbing fellow citizens.
