How Obamacare Will Hurt Young People

I'm not sure it's that simple (people and employers dropping coverage in favor of $750 fine). Currently (at least in my state, WA, where we already have sensible laws dealing with pre-existing conditions, and at least for small businesses) insurance companies require a certain percentage of employees to be covered (at least 75%). Unless you have at least that percentage who either sign up or waive to other GROUP coverage, you can't get insurance for your employees at all. And the employer has to pay at least half (for some insurance companies, a bigger percentage) of the rate for a single employee (of the least expensive plan the employer offers).

Regardless, a lot of people will have serious difficulty affording coverage....
