Those of us who are acquainted with "Ozzie and Harriet" and "Father Knows Best" long for a return to those values, language and focus on family. Great article. Love all the information shared in the comments too!

Ryan’s Benghazi Surprise

Really? You need to get out more. This is a big deal.
Choosing Romney/Ryan is choosing substance over personality, competence over rhetoric. Totally agree with Michael Barone. This time, we're going to hire men who can get the job done.
Steve, not sure what acceptance speech you listened to. In the one I heard, Romney talked extensively about a return to exceptionalism for every American. As a conservative woman, I was delighted to have the contributions of so many Republican women pointed out, including Romney's mother. Do you think Condi's story of a girl from Birmingham becoming Sec of State was a waste of precious moments? As a white male, you take too much for granted. Romney pointed out that e pluribus unum is not just a motto, its a reality in the GOP. I was inspired and energized. Your efforts to divide us into Establishment and Tea Party are despicable.

Coded Words in Romney's Speech

Dog whistle? Gov. Romney's criticisms of Pres. Obama were not coded. He told us in plain, blunt words that BHO has failed America. In this quote about an American, Governor Romney was talking about Neil Armstrong and his walk on the moon and how proud we were as Americans of that American moment. He wants to take us back to feeling like that about being American. Who gives a fig where Obama was born? It's what he's doing to America that upsets us.
Obama, Campaigner in Chief, has cowardly limited his interviews to ONLY left-wing media to keep his spin from being challenged. Obama and Biden count on the friendly left-wing media to regurgitate their absurd, personal attacks, and they do. Hugh's point is that GOP candidates have NOT used friendly channels to get their big ideas out to big audiences in big sound bytes. Romney & Ryan should follow Hugh's advice. Flood the airwaves with their voices and plans for the country. When it comes to getting to know these two men of action and integrity, more is better.
John, you've just given the perfect description of why Obama, Campaigner in Chief, has cowardly limited his interviews to ONLY left-wing shows--to keep his spin from being challenged. That non-confrontational format reinforces other evidence that he is incapable of discussing real issues, national or international. He uses the friendly left-wing media to regurgitate his absurd, personal attacks, and they do. Hugh's point is that GOP candidates have NOT capitalized on getting their message out through friendly channels.
I just finished reading the book after listening to Hugh's interesting interview with Daniel Silva. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It is all that Hugh promises and more. I learned from the interview that Silva weaves historical truths into his plot. It is a fascinating look at the Vatican, art and archeology, as well as the intrigue surrounding Israel. I highly recommend it.
