Rush Limbaugh made this argument over a week ago...where has Schlichter been? While I'm not a religious person, sometimes I wonder what people arriving at the gates of heaven are going to say to God when he asks them why they supporting the killing of unborn children and gay marriage. Matthew 19:4-6 New King James Version (NKJV) 4 And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made[a] them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’[b] 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?[c] 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

You could just as easily wonder what the vehemently anti-gay protesters and the racists of the past said to God when they died as well. Moreover, what would have happened if God told them that they had been wrong all along and they would be condemned for it? It's a two-way street and one that both sides of the argument would be wise to heed.

It is here to stay, and conservatives – whether for it, against it or just tired of hearing about it – need to coolly and dispassionately figure out just how we are going to win going forward.

This is not a judgment about its pros and cons. We’re past that. None of it matters anymore. This is about dealing with reality. Whether the fight ends with a Constitution-twisting Supreme Court ruling or after years or...
