How so. Does the Purple Hearts represent valor or a chance to frame yourself as a hero where you can use your "Badge for Gain"? Did he go into the combat zone to fight for his country or did he go in to "punch his ticket" for a future political career?

Of course he did -- and for obvious reasons:
