Libertarians' Awkward Bedfellows

While I admire Ann, I disagree with her approach; she wishes to substitute progressive liberal gov't force with conservative gov't force. Her argument against drugs and gay marriage are that, pure and simple. The concept of marriage is one of recognition, not gov't or religion. If I am not Christian, I am not required to recognize a Christian marriage - except by gov't force - any more than a Christian is required to recognize any other. The marriage ceremony is to ensure community acceptance of the union as valid and unassailable. That we accept these unions is a reflection of our personal honor, nothing more or less.

I do not think so. Libertarians must recognize that they do not live in vacuums. She wants them to admit that some things are not good and so they ought to control themselves and not do them. Or at least not be gluttonous in doing them. Take suicide. Suicide is the most selfish thing a person can do. It breaks hearts of those that love them. It is a hateful thing to do to those that love you. What happens to people that are sad for the rest of their lives? Libertarians say, whatever.

Christian marriage is a good way to raise healthy happy children. That is the only function of government sponsered marriage, It is not about love, your feelings, your needs or you in any way. Get over yourself.
When gay people can have children I will be 100% for gay marriage.

that in a nutshell is why nothing will ever get done except sliding more to the left

What do you mean nothing will ever get done? What are you trying to do? STOP.

By your reply, can I assume you do not recognize Muslim, Buddist, Hindi, or any other marriage - except by the force of gov't? You prefer Christian marriage, so that is the only one that matters and you wish to enforce that on others as 'the only way'? That would make you no better or honorable than your basest opponent.
There is nothing to force you to honor or associate with others in your personal life - except a gov't, if you let it. You either want gov't to 'butt out' (the libertarian ideal - laissez-faire in everything but the Rule of Law), or have it force others to live according to your specific ideals (pretty much like all the other 'big-gov't' approaches - rule by man).
Hate gov't forcing YOU, but they can force others?

Using gov't to force others is as "leftist" as it gets - regardless if you call yourself that, or conservative "right".
While I may honor the union between gay persons, I do NOT believe I should be forced to do so and will always act against the implementation or even assumption of that force - the same as I will against forcing me to only recognize Christian marriage, or any gov't -defined "marriage".

If it is not about love, feelings, or needs; how does the Christian marriage promote healthy, happy children? Hindi, Jew, or Muslims cannot have healthy, happy children? You think "gov't sponsored" can create these children (odd, since it is gov't actions that are killing the family unit).
What exactly does having children to do with the marriage itself? Remember: FIRST comes marriage - the rest comes after and is mostly optional.

Last week, Conservative pundit Ann Coulter told me and a thousand young libertarians that we libertarians are puss- -- well, she used slang for a female body part.

We were in Washington, D.C., at the Students for Liberty conference, taping my TV show, and she didn't like my questions about her opposition to gay marriage and drug legalization.

"We're living in a country that is 70 percent socialist," she says. "The government takes 60 percent of your money. They take care of your health care, your pensions ... who you can hire ... and you (libertarians) want to suck up to...
