OF COURSE he attacked "the state" (the democratic, capitalism-friendly US state) instead of defending his clients. Such tactics raised his profile, confused the issues, and pushed his agenda onto front pages. Libertarians, if you're swayed by this nonsense, read what Darrow had to say about free will, and whether it exists of not, which I gather is of some importance to your world view.
