Well said Sandy, well said. Will you run for office?
Back in the early 1970's the Govt was big on "The Paperwork Reduction Act" as a cost saving measure. Forty years later even with the expansion of computers and e-mail correspondence paperwork has expanded exponentially to the point where we supposedly can save a bundle by printing on both sides. Don't bet the farm that it will be done or that it will represent a significant sasvings.
Any decent cop would have apologized and left... Why should he apologize, he was dispatched to that address. You went on about it being the cops job to keep the peace. Apparently that is exactly what he was doing. As he was retreating back to the squad car Gates followed him out of the house and was himself creating a public disturbance in the front yard.

Who would ever have thought that an adult temper tantrum could cause this much media attention.

"Stimulus" Money: Men (Not) At Work

Some years ago one of the DC papers use to publish sentenances like Lofton-Thor's under the heading of Gobbledegook. Don't know if they still do (I suspect not) but when you scan the classifieds and a government agency or municipality is advertising for a Grant Writer this is exactly the person they are looking for.

The people passing out the money write the same way.
What is all of this hysteria about Gov Palin not finishing her first term as Governor? Obama in his first term in the US Senate spent 95% of his time on the taxpayers dime running for the Presidency and therefore when elected did not finish even one term in the senate. Explain the difference.

This strict adherance to PC is wreaking havoc on our military as well as our society. For those who might think that the military General and Flag officers are above the PC crowd you had best think again. Appointment to general and flag grades, and promotion's thereafter require the approval of the US Congress. How many of these super grade offcers do you see bucking the PC system. An old Colonel told me many years ago that you make Colonel on your merits and everything beyond that is pure politics. He may be more right now than he was 35 years ago.

Suicidal Political Correctness

The military is the last place we should expect political correctness to flourish . . . is a very laudable ideal but please be aware that for an officer to be promoted to General requires the approval of the politically correct congress. I am a 33 year veteran and an old Colonel told me many years ago that you make Colonel on your merits and anything above that is pure politics. You don't get 4 Stars bucking the system.

Additionally, you are sadly mistaken if you really believe that our military is not a lab for social experimentation.

ACORN could open Pandora's box

While campaigning, teleprompter Obama promised that he would scrutenize the Fed budget, line by line and scrub it clean. Guess he must have nodded off about the time he came to the line for providing ACORN funding. If his telling ABC's Stephie that he didn't know ACORN was getting Fed funds isn't a lie it is certainly unadulterated hogwash.

Joe Wilson was right.

Hopefully this pair of young film makers were just responding to the White House e-mail of a couple weeks ago asking for anything "fishy" to be reported. Something "fishy" now has now been reported multiple times. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to how much effort will go into ignoring or covering up the ACORN "fishy" findings.
