As a Black Parent, I teach my child to love God, to love herself, to respect others, think critically, question ideas, to strive for success, and not to be a victim but a victor! My husband and I set the example. She would be reprimanded for even attempting to 'act white' that is a slave mentality. That is an indicatication that whites are better so she should act white. I explain that no one is better than her and she is no better than anybody; she may be more knowledgeable but not any better. We all have to answer to God.
