You're right... we aren't a democracy, we are a republic. This means that we elect people to make decisions for us, we don't actually make them ourselves. So regardless of what the weekly poll says about Americans thoughts on the healthcare debate, the only thing that really matters is what America's elected officials decide.

Religious freedom is a constitutional right... so is the freedom from being killed. Since American children are citizens, it would be a violation of the constitution to kill them. It is clear that the freedom of religion cannot be enforced in such a way that it violates other Constitutional Rights.

Some of "we the people" are opposed to health care reform... but Obama made no mystery of the fact that he intended to enact this. The majority of people are getting what they voted for, which is all one can expect in a democracy.

Fair enough... I respect your point of view.

It would seem that health care reform (as of yet) has had enough support to pass by the legislative system devised by our fore fathers. Although it would have been nicer to have a greater margin of victory, it would have been unnecessary. You can say that this is unfair, immoral, outrageous etc... but what it all really boils down to is you didn't get your way and you are whining about it.

"It is widely known that..." is one of those things that you say when you don't actually have sources to verify your claims.

If you are actually going to engage me in debate, do your homework first.

Rubbers break, people are raped etc...

frankly it seems foolish to ask the government to force people have children that they do not want, and then ask the government not to help children of parents who cannot afford them.

You either care about kids across the board or you don't... this nonsense of only caring about POTENTIAL children while ignoring ACTUAL children is pretty foolish and is anything but moral.

go cry me a river. Health care reform was essentially on the ballot in 2008. The American people got exactly what they voted for... it just so happens that most Americans didn't agree with you. If you wanna live in a country where the will of the few trump the wishes of the many, move to Iran. If you intend to stay in America and espouse radical right-wing views, you have to realize that you are rarely going to get your way. Either move or stop whining like a school girl.

Liberals love children, that's why we think they should all have insurance.

Conservatives, on the other hand, think that if they arbitrarily protect a clustering of cells in utero, they can ignore living children and G-d will forgive them.

If you guys were truly pro-life, you wouldn't be so protest to pay a little more so that the starving child down the street could get properly vaccinated.

If you wanted to be honest, you all would call yourself "pro-fetus".

Those crazy democrats... first they want money to help sick people and then they want money to help people recover from a devastating hurricane. Don't they know that they only thing government money is good for is fighting unnecessary wars.

For people who consider themselves "patriots", you all are pretty quick to dismiss the democratic process the second you don't get your way. If you ask me, you guys are a bunch of whiners.
