Not sure that American slavery was the worst form of slavery in the world. After all, we didn't put four live slaves into the post holes of the four corners of a new building like the Aztec Empire did.
FDR may have said that, but his actions implemented the very programs he disdained. Quoting FDR is not quite the method I would use to discredit the bankrupted policies of the current version of FDR. If anything, social security was the first entitlement program enacted by an American government. Even FDR fell into the pit when his NRA program required butchers to sell the first chicken out of the coop rather than the white feathered one the customer wanted. It is just such nannying that we are seeing from the Federal level, at the local level, think Mikey Bloomburg with his soda and salt bans. We gave these politicians this power, we can and should take it away.
There are two things which astonish me completely. The first is how Democrats constantly brae on about how they are looking after the African American community and improving their lives. I suppose the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Jereimah Wright and numerous Democratic members of Congress they did do pretty well by the Democrats so long as they espoused the Democratic party line. But what really astonishes me is how the ordinary African American in this country actually believes that Democrats are improving their lives. Despite the fact that African Americans have the highest unemployment rate, the highest poverty rate, the highest murder rate, the highest rate of unwed births and so on and so on they still vote abjectly for Dems.
Tying something new for a change. If we did that then how could we ever continue doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result each time? Wait! That's the definition of insanity. Since President Obama is ordering the same thing yet again and expecting a different result, then by definition he must be insane. If he is insane than he needs to be kept away from all weapons. Since he is in charge of the biggest repository of weapons in the world, i.e., the US Military, we need to keep him from having access to that military. After all we can't allow an insane person to be loose in the world with access to all those really big weapons. I think we have found the best basis for removing Obama from office.

Yesterday, President Obama made the statement that he wanted mental health care to be as easily accessed as the purchasing of a firearm. Here's the how that would work. A mentally ill patient arrives at the doctor's office and approaches the receptionist and indicates she is having thoughts which could cause harm to others and wants to see the doctor. The receptionist hands the patient a form to fill out and states a mandatory fee must be paid in order to conduct a criminal background check. The receptionist then schedules the appointment for the ten day mandatory waiting period for seeing the doctor. If this sounds familiar it is because that is how one becomes authorized to purchase a firearm in the U.S.

There are two common threads in the killings in Aurora, Newtown and the other mass shootings in the last two years. The first commonality is that the shooters had a mental illness of some sort. The second commonality is that these shooting, with the exception of the Giffords shooting, were all committed in "gun free zones." My conclusion is that those with a mental illness should have some sort of treatment available to them and that "gun free zones" don't work.

Make the Democrats Own the Obama Economy

I am in partial agreement with Ann on this. We should give the Democrats exactly what they want in terms of higher taxes. Let the Bush era tax cuts expire in total and keep sequestration in as well. This way the Democrats get their tax rate increases and the huge reduction in the Defense budget they have been crying for since Clinton's Peace Dividend. This is a win-win for the Democrats and they will then own the economy

Romney Was Not the Problem

One of the surest ways to judge whether some one has the "chops" in elections is whether or not they won their election. The loser by default is responsible for losing his campaign and that is exactly what Romney has done, he lost therefore he is responsible for losing. All this other tripe about long primaries, incumbent presidents, etc. is nothing more than excuses. Romney had the best environment in thirty years to unseat an incumbent president and he didn't. End of story. And let's be honest Romney was only a ersatz Republican in the first place. He has been on the left of the conservative political spectrum.

Let's make sure that appealing Republican candidate is not another Romney or some one else in the party hierarchy decides is moderate enough win over such populations as the Black vote.

As to the two idiots who opened their big mouths about abortion and thus proving the adage of confirming your stupidity, enough said. Next time a MSM'er asks a Republican about rape and abortion, say something along the lines of " Rape is a horrendous crime and any one who commits it should be sentenced to a long, long time in prison" and leave it at that. If pressed, cite Roe v Wade and suggest that adoption might be an alternative to abortion as a more humane way of dealing with a truly innocent party to the crime.

Actually Romney can be and must shoulder some of the blame for losing the campaign. After all he was the nominee. There was a huge amount of time between the end of the primaries in May and the beginning of the convention in September where Romney was not very visible. Why? In fact, the convention should have been a been festival of renewal for the party, instead it was more of a ho-hum affair. Almost no momentum coming out of the convention especially with the Democratic convention a week later. Also, next time, let's schedule the convention in a non-hurricane state such as Iowa.
