Here is another fact about GM and its bailout. My husband's cousin (now age 79) worked all his working years at GM. With the bailout, he lost his entire pension and all insurance benefits. Lucky for him, his wife worked 30+ years as a teacher and her benefits and pension haven't been removed yet.

What did Alaska ever do to deserve to take on those violent and disruptive students? Please, O_bamanation, find some other place to contaminate!

The teachers want the support of their principals and other administrators. A teacher can not control her/his class if discipline is not allowed.

How terribly sad! Even sadder is that your company will likely be "judged" guilty and have to hire them back and pay fines.

In the schools local to me, there is very little of the "sectioning off" Mag 14 wrote about. The current thinking is to keep everyone mixed together in the classroom. It was better (educationally, if not socially) for nearly all of the children when they were "sectioned off." As to what Scrap Iron was talking about, (the removal of those who don't want to learn) that is a completely different category than learning disabled and gifted. The learning disabled and the gifted want to learn. It is totally unfair to those who want to learn when they are roomed together with those whose only goal is classroom disruption.

Conservatives claiming that Democrats are "Stupid" "Idiots" "Unpatriotic" "Liars, Cheaters," etc....are old hat. I'll agree - however, the same hold true when you change Conservatives to Liberals and Democrats to Republicans. Libs have been doing it for years and all they've managed to accomplish is to show the world how ignorant THEY are; how childish, and how they are always on the losing end of history. Obviously "smarter" and VP to not necessarily go together.

Fierce Five and Olympic Records

There are so many super-talented athletes competing in the Olympics - from all of the countries. I watch TV for two weeks every two years - my TV is seldom on during the remainder of the two years. Seeing such talent, such strength, such coordination, thrills me. However, I am NOT thrilled with the IOC. Some of their decisions make no sense. One of those is the decision that each country is only allowed two athletes in the all-around gymnastics competition. Wieber scored fourth highest among all of the female gymnasts - but she is not in the best 24. It sounds like the current trend toward "fair share." Each country's "fair share" is two - regardless of what is earned!

Our children are growing up unable to make good decisions about much of anything. Every time the government "saves us from ourselves" we are sending the message that if something is available, it must be safe or else the government would not allow it to be sold. Kids' playgrounds have removed slides, wooden swing seats (now there are those rubber ones that squeeze one's bottom), teeter-totters - anything that might demand that a child learn caution. Along with the welfare state, the nanny state teaches us to totally "trust" our safety to the govt.
And even the views of the CEO do not involve discrimination against anyone.
The views of the CEO do not involve "discrimination" either. Nothing he said could be construed as discrimination by any thinking person.
Agreed! Not a good reason to boycott. I am sure there are many other good Christian businesses who should not have to suffer because of an obnoxious mayor. (I am also sure that many of the good people of Boston have voted against this idiot in office; obviously they were not successful.)
