Are you serious? Where did you learn your history? The first wave of immigrants fled England where the King ruled the country and the church - the Anglican church! Abe Lincoln put it ever so succinctly when he advised that it is better to remain silent and thought a fool than to opne one's mouth and resolve all doubt. That goes for writing also! What is more frightening is that your vote will count!

Yup.The last Catholic King of England got thrown out in the 1690's,people were worried that he would restore the Catholic Church to the place taken by the Anglican Church.They felt that it was better to keep the corruption ( and the gold ) at home.And there had been a civil war in England about 40 years earlier,to get rid of the Catholic Church,and a bad King.
My ancestors supported James the 2nd,most were good Americans not long after their King fled to France.
