(Obama's own half-siblings have received little attention from their very wealthy and famous relative.) Those half-siblings share his DNA; he had no interaction with them until late in adulthood. Many Americans have people with whom they share DNA and nothing else, due to a wide variety of circumstances. Family is who you spend your time with, the people who lived with you as a child and raised you up. DNA-only relatives don't deserve the name of "family".

The Iron Curtain prevented me from meeting, contacting or knowing any of my second cousins until Reagan, Thatcher, the Pope and Solidarity knocked it down. Since then, I'm sure I've helped my "DNA-only relatives" much more than the 1% Obamas helped his Kenyan siblings.
