In response to:

Obama Lazer Focused on....Climate Change

I am not sure how this turned into a liberal/conservative issue.......we really do not get a second chance on the planet, it would be better to be cautious.......that being said actual usable solar power is probably still 20-30 years away and that is being optimistic, we should really focus on getting more efficient cars, plug in hybrids are a decent alternative, or maybe just getting small engines with turbos in them.......in the meantime money should be used in the form of grants to further research in new tech.....

Stop reading talking points and reporters who aren't scientists.

"Electric cars are twice as harmful than conventional cars to the environment during manufacturing "

NEWS FLASH:
The climate has been changing for centuries. Europe and North America were covered with ice. There is a desert in Africa caused by, gasp, oceans that have receded!

Get a notion on how the planet works.

Just plain wrong. STOP using my money to fund "green" research.

They're using Climate Change as an excuse to manipulate the earth's weather now.

The bigger issue is that.
indy2012 Wrote: Oct 12, 2012 3:18 PM
Where do you expect the new tech to start from?? do you think someone will magical wave a want and develop new forms of energy???

The money we spend now in R&D will pay of 100 times in the future...either we develop it or we buy it from another country that developed it before us.....there is a reason we are number 1, its not because we waited for others, its because we beat them and developed tech before they could.....
indy2012 Wrote: Oct 12, 2012 3:19 PM
its only that issue because its a game to everyone...both sides are guilty, they just play games while we all suffer...

The climate has been changing FOREVER. Nothing happening now is outside of normal, natural climate variation.

R&D?

where did all that R&D come from BEFORE gubmint stole taxpayers money?

did gubmint invent the light bulb?

solar panels?

the automobile? the airplane?
indy2012 Wrote: Oct 12, 2012 3:28 PM
no they did not, but that was in time when we weren't competing with the rest of the world....times have changed, there is nothing wrong with putting money into education to help us put out new tech......i disagree with putting it into private companies that only creates corruption, but I have no problem with my money going to grad students working on new ways to help build our technology.....

Also, most of our current tech, at least a decent amount is based on tech that was developed to go into space and the moon......just remember that NASA is a govt. agency......

"both sides are guilty, they just play games while we all suffer... "

We are suffering. They're spraying the skies with aluminum to reflect the sun away in the name of "geo-engineering".

That aluminum will eventually kill plants and give people cancer and alzheimers and other health issues.
indy2012 Wrote: Oct 12, 2012 3:31 PM
not really sure what you are trying to point out......that is just another sign that both sides dont know what they are doing.....

We've always been competing with the rest of the world. I repeat, Edison, Bell and Ford never received gubmint money and neither should the Volt and Solyndra...
Petrus64 Wrote: Oct 12, 2012 3:36 PM
both sides?

There's our side (people). And the other side trying to control the people. It's not a left-right issue.
indy2012 Wrote: Oct 12, 2012 3:38 PM
card, i never said that chevy (not the volt) or solyndra should receive a penny......I am saying universities should be given money in the form of grants to further research, this is done in every industry to help develop technology, the govt. helps start it and then the free market takes over.....pharma companies have been doing this successfully for years, where do you think most of our cancer and disease research happens???

BTW we were not competing like we are now, you are comparing a time when it took a month to get a message around the world, and that would be fast....we are in a different fast paced world, we need to keep up especially when other governments are funding this tech with billions.....

It's October 12 and Barack Obama is still trying to appease his far left environmentalist base by throwing them a climate change bone and trying to scare people into green energy, all to save the planet of course.

President Barack Obama warned his supporters about the threat of global warming and vowed that more money to subsidize green energy firms would prevent it.

“By the way, yes, my plan will reduce the carbon pollution that is eating our planet because climate change is not a hoax,” Obama said at a campaign rally at the...
