I am not sure how this turned into a liberal/conservative issue.......we really do not get a second chance on the planet, it would be better to be cautious.......that being said actual usable solar power is probably still 20-30 years away and that is being optimistic, we should really focus on getting more efficient cars, plug in hybrids are a decent alternative, or maybe just getting small engines with turbos in them.......in the meantime money should be used in the form of grants to further research in new tech.....

The climate has been changing for centuries. Europe and North America were covered with ice. There is a desert in Africa caused by, gasp, oceans that have receded!

The bigger issue is that.
The money we spend now in R&D will pay of 100 times in the future...either we develop it or we buy it from another country that developed it before us.....there is a reason we are number 1, its not because we waited for others, its because we beat them and developed tech before they could.....
The climate has been changing FOREVER. Nothing happening now is outside of normal, natural climate variation.
where did all that R&D come from BEFORE gubmint stole taxpayers money?
did gubmint invent the light bulb?
solar panels?
the automobile? the airplane?
Also, most of our current tech, at least a decent amount is based on tech that was developed to go into space and the moon......just remember that NASA is a govt. agency......
We are suffering. They're spraying the skies with aluminum to reflect the sun away in the name of "geo-engineering".
That aluminum will eventually kill plants and give people cancer and alzheimers and other health issues.
There's our side (people). And the other side trying to control the people. It's not a left-right issue.
BTW we were not competing like we are now, you are comparing a time when it took a month to get a message around the world, and that would be fast....we are in a different fast paced world, we need to keep up especially when other governments are funding this tech with billions.....
